Dining With Dermatological Dignitaries

Student Doctors Otmar Borchard and Emily Huynh (PNWU-COM Class of '27) offer readers an exclusive look at an invaluable networking opportunity with some of dermatology's leading minds.

"The dinner, which was coordinated by [PNWU Chief of Dermatology] Dr. Michael Scott, offered us an incredible opportunity to connect with leaders from the field of dermatology over sweeping views of Seattle’s Elliott Bay," write the co-authors.

We recently had the pleasure of dining with some of the greatest minds in dermatology.

Alongside Student Doctors Maria Tan, Angelica Palaganas (PNWU-COM Class of ‘27); Jill Zalunardo, Katie Eastin, and Acacia Dasher (PNWU-COM Class of ‘26), we joined Dr. Michael Scott, PNWU’s Chief of Dermatology, at Anthony’s on Pier 66.

The dinner, which was coordinated by Dr. Scott, offered us an incredible opportunity to connect with leaders from the field of dermatology over sweeping views of Seattle’s Elliott Bay.

PNWU students dine with dermatology leaders on Seattle’s Pier 66.

Together, we were able to ask questions about the training path and career of a practicing dermatologist, advocate for more leadership opportunities for students within the national associations, and connect with potential mentors to help them achieve their goals.

Dinner attendees included Dr. Lacey Walls, American Osteopathic College of Dermatology (AOCD) President; Dr. Francesca Kartono, AOCD President-Elect; Dr. Michelle Tarbox, host of the podcast “Dermasphere;” Drs. Julie Hodge, President of the Noah Worcester Dermatological Society; and Natasha Mesinkovska, Associate Professor at University of California Irvine School of Medicine.

The dinner was hosted by Galdarama, a Swiss pharmaceutical company specializing in dermatological treatments and skin care products, and also included Galdarama’s Kathy Bryson, Ellen Quiros, and J.P. York.

A huge thank you to Galderma for sponsoring this valuable opportunity for students, Dr. Scott for making this possible, and all who attended for a memorable evening!
